How Unduplicated has made a difference
"Gib led my team and me through our Service Area Competition (SAC) application in August 2021. Through weekly calls, he kept the project on track which allowed us plenty of time to review and edit the narrative sections and to double check our budget numbers.
Gib’s knowledge of the HRSA Compliance Manual was key in reviewing our policies for language consistent with the guidelines. His experience leading teams through this process was evident in how he organized our deadlines for deliverables, making it much less stressful for my team and a pleasant experience for us all!
We are so grateful to have found Gib and would highly recommend him if you are looking for expert guidance for your SAC."
-Ann Cazaban, Executive Director, Southside Community Health Services, Inc.
"Submitting a Health Center Controlled Networks (HCCN) application is complicated in the best of times. In addition to the narrative, budget, and numerous attachments and online forms, you have to get 10 FQHC CEOs to agree!
Our Network's (FUHN) HCCN application was not submitted in the best of times. As FUHN's brand new Director, I needed to focus on relationships with the CHCs and the network's broader priorities. Thankfully, Gib Clarke was referred to us.
After sorting out the agency's long-neglected SAM, grants.gov, and other accounts (without which we would not have been able to submit!), Gib guided the Board in re-writing the agency's bylaws. After that, it was off to the races, as Gib efficiently completed each of the application's components. Gib's work is methodical - he drafts recommendations, prepares a draft based on feedback, finalizes each section, and presents the full version for approval. But methodical doesn't mean "boring" - Gib finds the sunny side even in the most detailed compliance elements and makes the work almost fun.
Gib was referred by an FQHC for whom he had written a Service Area Competition (SAC) grant application, which was submitted successfully with no questions and no findings. "
-Mary Maertens, Project Director, Federally Qualified Urban Health Network (FUHN)
"Gib was handed the reins to a capital campaign in the first month on the job. He assembled a Campaign Committee which reached into the community, tracked down and applied for foundation grants, and wrote the #1 ranking grant to the Washington State Department of Commerce.
A couple years later, the Board didn’t hesitate to authorize a second capital campaign under Gib’s leadership. Gib also formed our first Development Committee and was instrumental in starting our annual fundraising campaign."
-Desmond Skubi, Executive Director, UCNW
"There was plenty of hesitation – and skepticism – at Lakeshore Community Health Care that $7 million could be raised for a new clinic. Like many FQHCs, despite being one of the biggest non-profits in the community (by impact, budget, and staff size) we were relatively unknown.
Gib created a buzz for us with open house events and stories in the press. Working together, we reached local companies, individuals, and family foundations and exceeded our goal."
-Kristin Stearns, CEO
"I have known Gib for over a decade. We first met when he interviewed to be my successor at Unity Care Northwest in Bellingham, Washington. It was clear right away that he had what everybody needs to succeed as a grant writer and fundraiser – the ability to connect with donors, doctors, and Board Members; a fun-loving sense of humor; and a love of data and detail.
Gib has been a valuable help to my consultant practice over the past few years: when I need research or writing done, especially if I need it done quickly and done well, Gib is at the very top of my list."
-Rebecca Johnson, President, Health Center Solutions, Inc.
"Gib was dealt a unique hand at the Woodrow Wilson Center. On the one hand, he was my deputy on the Environmental Change and Security Program, so he took on the delegated tasks of grant writing, evaluation, and reporting. Little did I know he’d enjoy these tasks and make a career out of them!
He also found time to be the Center’s first Coordinator of the Global Health Initiative. Between the two projects, Gib wrote and managed grants for funders ranging from companies like Pfizer, to the Gates and Carnegie Foundations, to government (USAID) and inter-governmental agencies (UNEP)."
-Geoff Dabelko, Associate Dean and Professor, Voinovich School of Leadership & Public Affairs, Ohio University
“Beaver Dam Community Hospitals started as a small community health center and has become an important network for primary and specialty care in small and large towns in Wisconsin. When I started at BDCH, development was similarly small and organic but missing key pieces necessary for growth and success. Gib provided critical analysis of BDCH’s strengths and weaknesses, and shined a light on a number of strategic opportunities for making our efforts more expansive and more effective."
-Holly Christopherson, Integrated Campaign Strategist, American Family Insurance; former Director of Strategy, Marketing, and Development for Beaver Dam Community Hospitals
